THE "RULE OF FAITH"
The way to revival is the way of the Church’s Rule of Faith. The Rule of Faith as it was called in the Early Church, is exceedingly important to understand even today. The “Rule” of Faith comprises several connected “sub-rules,” that if followed, unite the Faith, the Church and the interpretation of the Bible.
THE BIBLE
The 1st Rule of Faith is the inspired Written Word of God. At the very foundation of the Church, it is read in Church everyday.
THE CHURCH FATHERS
The 2nd Rule of Faith is the Church Fathers. They help us understand the correct way to read Scripture.
THE CHURCH DOCTORS
The 3rd Rule of Faith are specialists in the Bible and the Fathers. The Church has deemed them especially trustworthy for the journey of faith.
ECUMENICAL COUNCILS
The 4th Rule of Faith is the Ecumenical Council. The Fathers and Doctors of the Church valiantly fought for the Faith, oftentimes only be concluded by an Ecumenical Council.
THE PAPACY
The 5th Rule of Faith, given to keep the unity of the Church, is the Papacy. Built on the promise to Peter in Matthew 16:18-20, when Pope’s speaks “ex cathedra” or in official documents repeatedly they speak infallibly to the whole Church.
REASON & MIRACLES
The 6th & 7th Rules of Faith are miracles and reason. Jesus and the Church have produced millions of miracles over the centuries. It is logic that leads the Church to understand their meaning, and further the interaction between faith & reason.
THE VIRTUES & TRANSCENDENTALS
Growth is a process. It is never easy. Each and every person grows in virtues like faith, hope and love and in the transcendentals like truth, beauty and goodness.
God uses our imperfections to create His perfections. Growth may be slow, but it can (and does) happen!
